What was Kara's gauntlet that she failed?

All I know is that I don't want Kara to give up being a superhero. That would just be wrong for her character. Even in those situations where she lost her powers, she couldn't stop herself from getting in the way and saving people

I don't want that either.I hope they would play it like they've been playing it like with Superman in the comics where he's still Superman.He still wears the suit. It's just everybody now knows his name is Clark.One of the great elements they've been playing with that I've been enjoying is that his identity being out as Clark has actually given him a closer relationship with the people he helps.The public feels more connected to him as a person and not just a figure who flies in and saves the day.He's not just a symbol of hope to people,he's a real person now to them too.

But a situation where the world is told that Supergirl's name happens to be Kara? Why not. I think they said somewhere that the city and the people would rise up and help out? Maybe this is them rallying behind Kara even though they know who she is.

It doesn't make a ton of sense when the 100th episode showed that her identity being known would put her family in danger, especially now that Alex has a wife and kid but it's the end of the show, I'm willing to just ignore it.

Maybe that is part of the lesson the totem is trying to show her.That this possible future wasn't accurate?Plus,pretty much all of Supergirl's loved ones now have powers.Remember,Alex didn't become Sentinel until after the 100th episode.Same with Kelly who is now Guardian.Plus Lena didn't discover her magical powers and become a witch at that time.The point being that some major things have changed since the 100th episode and that possible future.Pretty much,everyone in Kara's life now has powers or abilities and is a superhero.The only one who isn't is Eliza and spoiler for the finale

In light of the episode synopsis for,"Nightmare in National City "

I'm seeing a lot of speculation out there regarding this synopsis,that it's setting up Kara hanging the cape up and retiring as Supergirl at the end of the series and/or Kara's identity as Supergirl being revealed at the end of the series(something they did with Superman recently in the comics).

I'm starting to lean to Kara revealing she's Supergirl by the end of the series.

1)Maybe this was her courage test?

Courage & vulnerability

She should of shown her courageous vulnerability the night she saved Alex by revealing her whole self as Kara Zor-El Danvers and not fly off quickly and create the Supergirl identity?

She even didn't help that guy because she didn't want to expose her identity.

The totem was trying to teach her that she should of had the courage and taken the leap and fully reveal herself and not create the separate Supergirl role.

2)As mentuioned above.They are doing this sort of story right now in the Superman comics.Clark Kent revealed he was Superman to the world.He felt he had to be honest to the world and true to himself by revealing his identity and the belief that his loved ones could handle this being public.Before he did this he talked to Lois & Jon.He talked to Kara and Batman etc before he went and did it.Again,this plotline is still playing out I the current comics.

3)Winn sort of teased this last season in his return episodes.Everybody in the future knows Kara is Supergirl and Kara is a very popular name parents name their daughters.

Winn is returning with Mon-El at the end of the series.Maybe he confirms Kara revealing herself as Supergirl was/is the right move?

4)It's rumored the title of the series finale is,"Kara."

That title makes sense if Kara is out as Supergirl.She's more than just Supergirl to the world.She's Kara and basically has fully married both sides of her life.Just like what has been done in the current Superman comic storyline
